Shooting Star

There were shimmering sonic booms everywhere,

meteors breathing fire into the night;

“Look! Shooting stars!” She jumped up excitedly,

Her face aglow with the magic of the night.

I closed my eyes and sighed,

Praying silently for her Wonder to stay alive;

The world was vicious and took away my smiles,

But as she ran in the darkness, making friends

with fireballs, fireflies and the moonlight,

I pushed away my tears, fears and scars

and ran to grasp my childhood once again,

‘Cause just for a moment,

I wanted to believe in a

Shooting Star

Again.
